Coventry Corporation TIMs (post-war)

Coventry Corporation appears to have acquired about 300 short-range TIM machines, in at least two batches, after World War 2. Information to hand is very limited – tickets from only eight machines have been seen. Conversion to Setright Speed took place in 1962/63 when a total of 500 of these machines were put into service. A selection of four post-war TIM tickets is illustrated below.

This ticket is probably from the first post-war machine supplied – number 1001. Note that the part of the conditions referring to return tickets has been erased.

This ticket from machine 1135 is from the same batch as 1001 but was issued nine years earlier and shows the full conditions with their reference to return tickets. Some tickets from this batch have been noted showing class "S" rather than "ORD". The highest machine number seen in this batch is 1147.

This ticket from machine 1178 is the lowest number seen from the second batch of post-war machines. The plate design shows a several revised features – the conditions have been simplified, the route number panel is headed SERVICE instead of S'VCE and the machine number is set in a standard typeface instead of the freehand manuscript style of the earlier batch.

This ticket from machine 1294 is the highest number seen from the second batch of machines. Note that it shows class "S" rather than "ORD".
